| Gharda Chemicals Limited has a unique distinction of developing technologies and products indigenously and has won the ‘ICMA Acharya P.C. Ray award for Development of Indigenous Technology’ on a number of occasions earlier.
Once again, for the first time in the world, Gharda Chemicals have successfully developed two new varieties of block copolymers POLYSUPER SULFONES (PSS), and have also filed patent application for these materials. Gharda has the distinction of being the first in the world to commercialize such block copolymers.
It is also noteworthy that no other Indian company has commercialized any novel polymer, to the best of our knowledge.
GAFONETM B-PSS has a glass transition temperature of 224oC with an estimated continuous use temperature of 180oC. This material is supplied as natural amber transparent or in various colours depending on customer requirement. It has an Excellent Hydrolytic Stability, Good Chemical Resistance and has been approved for food contact applications by USFDA, NSF and RCC.
GAFONETM T-PSS is the second in this series, with a glass transition temperature of 265oC with an estimated continuous use temperature of 230oC. This resin is also available as general-purpose injection molding and extrusion grade.
Both these materials have given Gharda Chemicals an advantage of being a leader in material technology world of super specialty polymers.
In recognition of this novel technology developed by the company, the Indian Chemical Manufacturers Association is pleased to confer the ICMA ACHARYA P.C. RAY AWARD FOR DEVELOPMENT OF INDIGENOUS TECHNOLOGY for the year 2004-2005 on Gharda Chemicals Ltd., Panoli, Gujarat.
